Adding retro-fit EMI filtering to an existing application can be a big challenge. Large bulky adapters, filtered connectors and traditional EMI filters take up a lot of space.
EDAC has a solution in the form of retro-fit filtering; existing connectors can be retrofitted with a filter, which is simply inserted into the existing connector. Depending on the filtering required, a silicone insert is fitted with the necessary components, after which it is inserted into the male header. By subsequently inserting the female connector into its opposite, the silicone insert is pushed deeper into the connector.
Filtering thus takes place outside the housing which prevents many EMI problems.
In addition to filtering, interconnection between pins or between pins and the GND of the connector can also be realized. The silicone insert hardly adds any weight to the application and is virtually invisible.
