Premo is a leading manufacturer of magnetics and 3D precision coils, among other things. These coils enable a low cost electromagnetic tracking system which is used in VR and AI applications.
Electromagnetic motion tracking systems work using a low-frequency magnetic field generator, the 3D emitter and one or more 3D sensors. Transmitter and receiver have special 3D magnet coils whose magnetic field must be exactly in the center of the 3 windings. These 3D coils generate and receive magnetic field signals whereby the 6 degrees of freedom can be accurately and quickly detected. This includes both translations, i.e. XYZ position and rotation, i.e. roll, pitch and yaw.
Premo is the market leader for these components and has an extensive range of standard coils. Both extremely small, suitable for tracking fingertips or instruments during surgery, as well as larger versions to optimize accuracy and distance.
These magnetic tracking systems are applied in VR glasses, industrial robots, medical surgical robots, motion science, human-machine interface and drones, among others.
