Semi-solid-state technology combines features of conventional lithium-ion technology with a partially solid electrolyte structure. By partially replacing the liquid component with a solid phase, a cell architecture is created with much higher energy density and improved stability.
GEB is pushing the boundaries with this innovation: their new GEB8540140 cell, with a nominal voltage of 3.8V and a capacity of 14Ah, achieves an impressive energy density of nearly 500 Wh/kg—almost double that of standard Li-ion pouch cells.
