Seifert Electronic can factory-fit heatsinks with a phase-change material (PCM). This creates the combination of excellent thermal conductivity with an even surface, on which high power dissipating components can be easily placed.
The 150µm layer is screen-printed onto the cooling profile in the desired shape and dimensions. The thermal conductivity is 3.4 to 4.0 W/mK, depending on the materials used.
The PCM layer changes from solid to a more liquid form between 45 and 60°C, filling micro-spaces between the heatsink and the components and maximizing heat transfer. At room temperature, the PCM layer is dry and relatively hard at so the heatsinks require no special attention in handling and storage.
