Panasonic has introduced the EM PhotoMOS as a component for a Battery Management System. Its function is to switch a shunt resistor to monitor the isolation between high-voltage and low-voltage.
By omitting pin 5 in the housing, a greater air/creepage distance was realized between the load pins, allowing a load voltage of 1500V.
The PhotoMOS is suitable for AC and DC loads where it is polarity insensitive in DC.
Typical applications for this PhotoMOS are isolation detection, voltage monitoring and signal control.
