Safe braking resistors for decentralized variable-frequency drives

Safe braking resistors play a crucial role in electric drive technology, particularly in situations involving high peak loads. This is even more critical for decentralized drive technology, because the system components are located in the field and must be able to withstand the prevailing environmental conditions in order to perform their tasks reliably. This includes protection against dust or moisture.

The system as a whole must also be intrinsically safe and comply with applicable standards and guidelines.
This applies to the inverter, but certainly also to the braking resistors, and Koch offers suitable models for this purpose with a high degree of protection up to IP66.

Depending on the type of controller and the application, there are variations in ohmic resistance, power rating, pulse resistance, and thermal limits, as well as in mechanical design, mounting method, and connections.

Among other things, Koch is a Siemens Product Partner, which guarantees not only quality but also compatibility with the many models of Sinamics drives. With braking resistors ranging from 10 to 400 W and combinations up to 8.0 kW, Koch operates in a widely used power range.
