Koch has expanded the DES series of modules for the storage and return of braking energy from e.g. variable speed drives and motor controllers with a heavier version. The DES3.0 has compared to the DES2.0 a factor 1.5 more energy storage due to heavier power electronics. Whereas DES2.0 can store about 800Ws, the DES3.0 already goes up to 1200Ws. The self-learning DES modules are expandable with EM modules to achieve even higher capacities and are optimally used for short cyclic movements. In addition to the DES, there is also the DEV module that functions as a UPS to keep an inverter running for a short time after a power failure in order to send the machine to a safe position or to prevent production losses.
