The electronics industry is facing a global shortage of a wide range of components.
In part this is due to temporary plant closures and supply chain stagnation caused by the Covid-19 virus, but there has also been a production shortage of semiconductors for some time.
This, combined with extreme growth in applications containing these components, is putting enormous pressure on our - as well as other manufacturers of electronics components.
This includes circuit board components but also composite products such as LED drivers, power supplies, etc.
In addition to the production problems outlined above, the transportation sector has capacity problems, both air and sea freight. This translates into higher transportation costs and longer waiting and travel times.
Commodity prices, after a stable period, are also now rebounding significantly.
The result is that we all face higher component prices, longer delivery times and some components may not even be available.
As Elincom, we want to make our customers aware of this situation.
It is advisable to place (buffer) orders as early as possible, even if the delivery time still seems far away. Only then can we minimize the chance of late deliveries.
