Shut-off valves that are bi-stably operated with a servo motor, for example, will remain open in the event of a power failure. This can have major consequences. Gas, liquid or bulk material will continue to flow uncontrolled without automatic or regulated intervention by the controller.
With the DEV module from Koch, the valve can be controlled even in the event of a power failure because voltage is supplied to the DC link of the frequency or servo inverter. During normal operation, the capacitance in the DEV module is charged and automatically recognizes when the voltage drops.
Optionally, with an additional NEV module, a 24Vdc power supply is also available to supply any sensors or control system during emergency operation. In addition to the DEV modules, Koch also offers modules to use regenerative braking energy.
