Amphenol LTW has a comprehensive range of ventilation connectors or vents. These are used in sealed enclosures and ensure that the air pressure inside and outside the enclosure is equalized. The vents are equipped with a breathable membrane which allows air in and out of the enclosure, but not moisture.
For example, heating and cooling electronics creates a pressure difference inside and outside the enclosure. That pressure can undermine the watertightness of a lid seal and allow moist air or even moisture to enter, affecting the electronics.
There are hydrophobic (water-repellent) and oleophobic (grease/oil-repellent) membranes but there is also a choice in the breathability of the vent connectors. The vents are in metal, stainless steel or plastic and available as M12 or M6 variants
Typical applications for vents are electronics in moist environments such as outdoor measurement sensors, LED lighting, controls in food industry, CCTV, LED lighting, electronics for marine applications and electric vehicles.
