At just 10mm thick, Koch now offers a new safe braking resistor that is at least 5mm thinner than comparable types. The AWD300 series can be used for 400Vac variable speed drives. Rated at 120W, it can absorb 4.5kWs of energy at 1% duty cycle. The maximum operating voltage is 1000 volts DC. Versions from 27 to 200Ω are available.With a mass of about 300 grams, the thermal time constant of the pressed wire resistor is about 400 seconds.The robust aluminum housing with pressed seals,is at least IP 54. As with all of Koch's braking resistors, in the event of permanent overloading, only the resistor is interrupted in a controlled manner; surrounding equipment and wiring remains undamaged.
