Koch now also has single-stage dynamic energy storage manager KSM 4.0 that can optimize the energy management of servo or AC drives, with the following functions:
- managing braking energy as a buffer function for short cyclic movements
- Balancing the DC network by reducing load peaks, peak shaving
- UPS power supply for drives or DC networks
- wireless power supply for small drives in combination with heavy-duty batteries With a peak current of 60A, the KSM 4.0 reaches a maximum power of 15.6kW. If the required current is higher, parallel switching of several KSM devices is possible. Depending on the system requirements, different storage media can serve:
- electrolytic capacitors: very quickly send several kilojoules of energy back and forth more than 100 million times
- supercaps: several hundred kilojoules absorbed and released per minute
- batteries / accumulators: 3000 cycles and several megajoules The application determines the storage medium, the DC manager KSM 4.0 remains the same.
