The last advantages of halogen versus LEDs are now all but faded: both the high Ra value and the warmer light color when dimmed, are taken care of with the dimto-warm modules.
Citizen offers a series of COB LEDs that simulate color change of halogen from roughly 1800-3100K with a light output of 980lm with 13.5W version to 2920lm with the 29W version. In addition, Citizen is introducing a Chip Scale Package (CSP) module with a wider range of 2700-5000K. Where other vendors place an NTC resistor, Citizen applies a special circuit that provides better efficiency lm/W during dimming and a smaller MacAdam step.
The COBs are easily interchangeable with other single-color COBs, no modification to the primary dimmable driver or dimmer is required for that. PWM dimming is not possible.
