For COB LEDs to perform optimally, it is important to dissipate the resulting heat as quickly and as well as possible. For optimal heat dissipation of COBs or SMD LED modules, there are several types of thermal pastes and foils from Parker Chomerics.
The best thermal conductivity offers pastes, but these have the disadvantage that consistent processing is not easy. A good alternative may be pads, which can be die-cut to size in-house at customer request to fit directly under a COB LED. These can feature a one- or two-sided adhesive layer.
For extremely good thermal conductivity, graphite pads can be used; they are also relatively inexpensive. But graphite is electrically conductive and the material is hard, therefore it cannot be used as a gap filler.
Chomerics has various thermal interface materials and compositions available in various thicknesses, degrees of thermal conductivity and electrical insulation values.
